Tragedy struck the Devils this season when they lost league MVP Taylor Hall in November. Hall eventually missed the entire season which pretty much sunk their chances. They finished last in the Metropolitan Division and 29th overall.
Additions: Wayne Simmonds, Nikita Gusev, PK Subban, Jack Hughes, Matt Tennyson
Subtractions: Steven Santini, Stefan Nosen, Kenny Agostino

Forwards:
The bright side to having such a poor season is that the Devils won the draft lottery leading to them drafting Jack Hughes first overall. Adding him to a lineup including a healthy Hall and Wayne Simmonds on a one-year prove it deal gives the Devils some added punch. They also added Nikita Gusev who is a complete wildcard right now.
Defense:
The Devils only addition to their blue line this summer was a big one. PK Subban can provide plenty of offense but they’ll need him to bounce back after a down year.
Goalies:
This is the big question mark for the Devils. If Cory Schneider, who’s had a great preseason, can’t bounce back they’ll need to rely on MacKenzie Blackwood to take the reigns. He looked good in his 21 starts last season but he’s still relatively unknown.
The Point Prediction:
The additions made by the Devils this summer have been superb. We have them making it back to the playoffs finishing 3rd in the Metropolitan Division and 13th overall.
