With his win against the Avalanche last night, Roberto Luongo passed Ed Belfour for third on the all-time wins list, with the 485th win of his career. He’s closing in on his 40th birthday, but he still has some vintage Bobby Lou left in him and he showed that Monday night. Yes, he gave up three goals, but he didn’t exactly receive a lot of help from his team. Luongo faced 21 shots from the slot and 13 from the inner slot, both season-highs for him.
As you can see, Luongo faced a barrage of point-blank shots but still managed to put up season-highs in slot saves and inner slot saves. Ultimately, that was enough to secure the overtime win and a place in the history books as one of the best goalies to ever play. Big congratulations to him from everyone at The Point on an historic achievement.
