Brossoit Brilliant: Jets goalie sets single-game high

Laurent Brossoit got his first NHL start in ten months last night against the Hurricanes and he was brilliant. Despite being heavily outshot, the Jets pulled off a 3-1 win with Brossoit setting an impressive single-game season high in terms of quality saves. 13 of Brossioit’s 42 saves came from the most high-danger area on the ice, the inner slot – the most inner slot saves in a game by any goalie this season.

After the game, Jets head coach Paul Maurice spoke about his goalie’s terrific effort. “It was a continuation of his training camp, a very strong camp, and for those of you who watch him practice every day, you saw an awful lot of that in practice.”

All told, the Jets were outshot 43-26 and 14-3 from the inner slot. Every now and then teams need their goalie to steal a win and that was certainly the case in Winnipeg last night.
