We figured, from game one of his NHL career, Brady Tkachuk would park himself in front of the net and be a pain in the butt to play against and so far – as advertised. However, generating chances from in-tight is easier said than done and not something many rookies are able to do at a high rate, right off the hop. Four games into his NHL career, Tkachuk is leading the NHL in inner slot shots per game.
Last night, Tkachuk put 5 inner slot shots on net – one found the back. Two of his three goals have come from this small and valuable space on the ice.
What’s funny is both his goals from this space have gone in off his feet, not his stick but, hey – go to the gritty areas and get rewarded. That formula has worked well so far for the Senators rookie.
