Weekend Warrior: Filip Forsberg

Weekend Warrior: Filip Forsberg

This is the first installment of a new weekly feature here at The Point, Weekend Warrior. Every Monday we will name our MVP of the weekend based on the best single-game performance and this weekend the choice was obvious. Congratulations, Filip Forsberg.

Forsberg scored all three of his team’s goals in a 5-3 loss to the Oilers, but the hat trick wasn’t even the most impressive part of his performance. Forsberg had a mind-boggling 15 scoring chances in that game, the highest single-game total in the NHL this season by a mile.

That single-game total isn’t only the highest this year, it’s actually the highest of any player since the start of the 2015-16 season. In fact, only 5 Predators players have more shot attempts from the slot this season than Forsberg had on Saturday!

The hat-trick gives Forsberg 10 goals on the season, good for second in the NHL and more than a quarter of Nashville’s 38 total goals. He also ranks 2nd league-wide in scoring chances with 46, trailing only Nathan MacKinnon (49). So, congrats Filip Forsberg on being named The Point’s first ever Weekend Warrior.
